I value our community and our families and still love nothing better than simply chatting to the children ... precious moments in my busy day

    I love taking a break from admin and spending time with the children for some perspective. Sitting with them during lunch, catching up with them and hearing about their day is my favourite part of mine and is, I realise often, the only time I really do anything of genuine importance. For me, it always come back to relationships - with the children, their families and my team. These connections are at the heart of everything we do. When we take the time to listen, laugh, share and support one another, we create a place where everyone feels safe, valued and a true sense of belonging. That's when the magic of early childhood really happens.

    I’m an early childhood teacher with a passion for nature based education. My passion for outdoor, nature based education was founded through my work in a Forest Preschool in Canada.
    At the heart of my teaching philosophy is the belief that the learning of young children is a journey of personal growth that needs attention, encouragement and a genuine investment in their lives.
    I view play as a context for learning that enables children to truly be themselves as they develop a positive sense of belonging, identity and wellbeing, equipping themselves with the creativity and dispositions to be lifelong learners.

    I love being with the 2-3 year olds and seeing how much they grow during their year; their language, their independence and confidence, their friendships and their love of exploring our world. Nurturing them during their first year with us and seeing them flourish is so very rewarding.

    As a passionate environmentalist, I love being with the children in the garden and involving them in nurturing our vegetables, plants and flowers. In fact just the same way as I love watching them develop and grow throughout their time with me.

Koala Class 3 - 4 Years

    I have been working at MVK for the past 10 years and there is nowhere quite like it! I believe kindy should be a safe, happy place for a child and I love being able to do the fun, sensory and messy activities and be a child with them again for a while!

    I love creating supportive environments for the children and watching them actively learn and grow. I enjoy witnessing the children form connections and bonds with one another. Each child has their own unique personality which blossoms in their own light, and watching this unfold is such a delight!

    There's nothing quite as fulfilling to me as being the 'safe place' on which a child can rely. I know I'm doing my job well when a child comes to me for reassurance and guidance before securely returning to play. I also love setting up creative play spaces and watching the children engage with and love their activities. I see my job as a facilitator of learning whilst assisting in the development of empathy and consideration for others.

    I love having conversations with the children after group time and hearing what they have learnt - it fascinates me how thirsty they are for knowledge! And the best thing is when I hear afterwards that they have taken that knowledge home to share with Mum and Dad … I know I’ve done a good job!

    I love taking the time to find out what makes each child unique and listening to them talk about their interests and family. The environment is my passion and I love engaging the children through country and our environment. My favourite time of day is first thing in the morning, welcoming all the happy faces and knowing we are all going to have a wonderful day.

    It is such a joy arriving to work and being welcomed by lots of happy, smiling faces that are excited to see you! I enjoy spending quality time with each child and learning about their experiences, interests and families. With a background in acting for children's theatre, I have a real passion for inspiring children through dramatic play. I believe in the power of the performing arts to spark imagination, build confidence and foster socio-emotional skills. I love creating safe spaces in which children can express themselves, grow and discover the joy of storytelling and imaginative play - especially when I'm invited to join in!

    Whether it be baking in our sandpit, or dreaming up adventures in our tree house, I love being a part of each child's learning and development. Watching all the smiles, laughter and wonder at each new milestone they reach adds just as much to my day as it does to theirs! Story time is my favourite part of the day (all done with funny voices, of course)! The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go Dr Seuss

    I love teaching young children using a 'hands on' approach and am passionate about teaching and learning through creative arts and music. I am at my happiest when connecting to the children through music and taking them on journeys around the world, hearing the wonderful stories they have to share!

    I believe Mona Vale Kindy excels in creating a nurturing environment to support children to learn through play. I value the importance of these years, during which children learn the foundations of self-expression, self-reliance, self-confidence and empathy with others. At MVK, we model behaviour of all these qualities so that the children can discover them in themselves and build on them throughout their lives.

    I am new to the world of Early Childhood but am enjoying this opportunity to follow my passion. My year of Psychology has given me an insight into how children's behaviour is shaped by relationships and individual experiences and I look forward to applying this to support children's learning and wellbeing.
