I love taking a break from admin and spending time with the children for some perspective. Sitting with them during lunch, catching up with them and hearing about their day is my favourite part of mine and is, I realise often, the only time I really do anything of genuine importance. For me, it always come back to relationships - with the children, their families and my team. These connections are at the heart of everything we do. When we take the time to listen, laugh, share and support one another, we create a place where everyone feels safe, valued and a true sense of belonging. That's when the magic of early childhood really happens.

I’m an early childhood teacher with a passion for nature based education. My passion for outdoor, nature based education was founded through my work in a Forest Preschool in Canada.
At the heart of my teaching philosophy is the belief that the learning of young children is a journey of personal growth that needs attention, encouragement and a genuine investment in their lives.
I view play as a context for learning that enables children to truly be themselves as they develop a positive sense of belonging, identity and wellbeing, equipping themselves with the creativity and dispositions to be lifelong learners.

I love being with the 2-3 year olds and seeing how much they grow during their year; their language, their independence and confidence, their friendships and their love of exploring our world. Nurturing them during their first year with us and seeing them flourish is so very rewarding.

As a passionate environmentalist, I love being with the children in the garden and involving them in nurturing our vegetables, plants and flowers. In fact just the same way as I love watching them develop and grow throughout their time with me.

I enjoy listening to the childrens' conversations as they chat with me and each other. I appreciate the opportunity to extend their language, understanding of the world and their love of books. It makes my day when they bring in a book from home to share and I love their smiles when we share a joke or funny moment!

I have been working at MVK for the past 10 years and there is nowhere quite like it! I believe kindy should be a safe, happy place for a child and I love being able to do the fun, sensory and messy activities and be a child with them again for a while!

There's nothing quite as fulfilling to me as being the 'safe place' on which a child can rely. I know I'm doing my job well when a child comes to me for reassurance and guidance before securely returning to play. I also love setting up creative play spaces and watching the children engage with and love their activities. I see my job as a facilitator of learning whilst assisting in the development of empathy and consideration for others.

I love having conversations with the children after group time and hearing what they have learnt - it fascinates me how thirsty they are for knowledge! And the best thing is when I hear afterwards that they have taken that knowledge home to share with Mum and Dad … I know I’ve done a good job!

It is such a joy arriving to work and being welcomed by lots of happy, smiling faces that are excited to see you! I enjoy spending quality time with each child and learning about their experiences, interests and families. With a background in acting for children's theatre, I have a real passion for inspiring children through dramatic play. I believe in the power of the performing arts to spark imagination, build confidence and foster socio-emotional skills. I love creating safe spaces in which children can express themselves, grow and discover the joy of storytelling and imaginative play - especially when I'm invited to join in!

I love teaching young children using a 'hands on' approach and am passionate about teaching and learning through creative arts and music. I am at my happiest when connecting to the children through music and taking them on journeys around the world, hearing the wonderful stories they have to share!
